Position Overview:

The Senior Database Administrator (Sr. DBA) is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of high-performance SQL database environments. This role ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of databases that support critical business applications and services. The Sr. DBA will manage and optimize complex database systems including Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL. They will develop efficient queries, indexes, and stored procedures, implement robust backup and failover strategies, and proactively monitor system performance. In collaboration with development and infrastructure teams, the Sr. DBA will contribute to architectural decisions and lead efforts to enhance data access and integrity across the organization.

Work Location: This is a remote position.

Work Schedule: First Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Work Travel: Less than 10% domestic travel.

Competitive Total Rewards Package: Attractive annual salary of $115,000 - $150,000 plus a performance-based bonus, with benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, configure, and maintain high-performance SQL database environments (e.g., MS SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, indexes, and stored procedures to ensure performance and scalability.
  • Implement and manage database clustering, replication, backup strategies, and failover processes.
  • Monitor database health and performance using appropriate tools; tune as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot database related issues and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and application teams on database architecture and query optimization.
  • Lead and mentor other DBAs and developers, fostering best practices for database development and maintenance.
  • Participate in capacity planning and recommend strategies to scale and secure the database infrastructure.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, and data integrity in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Maintain and create documentation for database configurations, procedures, and access policies.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in database administration
  • Strong command of SQL and database programming
  • Proven experience with scaling databases, clustering, and high-availability solutions
  • Expertise in database performance tuning and index optimization
  • Experience with data migration and transformation strategies
