Above all, Employees will be provided the same concern, respect, and caring attitude within the organization that they are expected to share externally with every Southwest Customer.Job Description:Job SummaryPlay a critical role supporting the Legal Labor Team in the facilitation and administration of the Company's Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), Work Rules, Labor Policies, and Labor Strategy. Assists Attorneys in preparing and presenting arbitrations. Creates and inputs information into databases to ensure compliance with contractual timelines, among other things.This Specialist also supports the Daily Operation Labor Manager group, who works closely with our labor unions to resolve Employee grievances. They provide support to the Labor Managers by being investigative, organized, and working through administrative document retention regarding open grievances, upcoming System Boards, and Arbitrations. ResponsibilitiesAnswer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individualsFacilitates and administers the Company's Collective Bargaining Agreements, Work Rules, Labor Policies, and Labor StrategyDrafts communication between the Company and the Union including grievance denials and resolutionsSupports the Managing Director, Directors, Managers and Sr Managers in Legal and Labor Departments; coordinates and attends meetings with the Union and other individuals as necessaryActs as an advisor to Leadership at HDQ and in the Field regarding applicable deadlines under the CBAResearches legal and labor relations topicsAssists with the preparation of Systems Boards, Med/Arbs, and other grievance meetingsWorks with Leadership and Legal Department on administrative cases and litigation mattersWorks with several different departments, e.g., Employee Relations, Legal, Payroll, Training, People Department, Benefits, to resolve Employee issuesCreates and inputs information into databases to ensure compliance with contractual timelinesUtilizes various HR and Labor software and programs, e.g., SOPI (Irregularity Program), Team Connect (Grievance database) and other databasesParticipates in special projects as neededChampions excellent relationships with all Union LeadersMay perform other job duties as directed by Employee's LeadersKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminologyKnowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resourcesKnowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammarKnowledge of principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services, including Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of Customer SatisfactionSkilled in collecting, organizing, visualizing and assimilating data, including turning raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization softwareSkilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problemsSkilled in written and verbal communicationAbility to shift back and forth between two or more activities or sources of information (such as speech, sounds, touch, or other sources)Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make senseEducationRequired: High School Diploma or GEDExperienceEntry level experience, developing skills and knowledge in:Human Resources, Unions and Collective Bargaining Agreements, and/or AdministrationPreferred experience in: Adobe Acrobat ProLicensing/CertificationN/APhysical AbilitiesAbility to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of timeAbility to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the jobAbility to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the jobOther QualificationsMust maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelinesMust be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986Must be at least 18 years of ageMust be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelinesMust meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive personnel informationExtended hours will be required on an "as needed" basisTravel will be required on an "as needed" basisPay & BenefitsCompetitive market salary from $68,150 - $75,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience.
