Blithequark is seeking highly motivated and talented pharmacy professionals to join our team as Pharmacy Residents in Community Pharmacy Practice. As a leading player in the pharmacy industry, we offer a comprehensive post-graduate educational and training experience designed to develop pharmacists with expertise in community pharmacy practice. Our program is academically associated with and financially supported, in part, by MCPHS University, providing residents with opportunities to develop teaching skills through the provision of experiential education and educational guidance of pharmacy students.

Program Overview

As a Pharmacy Resident at Blithequark, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of community pharmacy practice, including clinical, educational, functional, and administrative roles. Our program is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to excel in current and future community pharmacy practice. You will spend most of your time at Blithequark pharmacies in Chelsea or Waltham, MA, and the rest of the time will be spent on specific rotations in areas such as ambulatory care, Blithequark management, or teaching at MCPHS University Boston.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in clinical rotations in community, ambulatory care, Blithequark management, and teaching
  • Develop teaching skills through small group and large instructional lectures, and as an assistant preceptor for the community pharmacy practice laboratory
  • Gain experience in administrative roles, including working with pharmacy managers and Area Healthcare Managers at Blithequark
  • Participate in state and national pharmacy associations, including attending Massachusetts Pharmacy Executive meetings and local and national pharmacy conferences
  • Contribute to quality improvement programs and develop and implement a longitudinal residency project

Objectives:

The objectives of our Pharmacy Resident program are:

  • Engage the resident in clinical, educational, functional, and administrative aspects of community pharmacy practice
  • Prepare the resident to assume clinical, educational, functional, and administrative responsibilities within the community practice setting
  • Provide a mechanism by which the resident contributes to the development of pharmacy services within the community setting
  • Develop the resident's precepting and teaching skills
  • Contribute to quality improvement programs as suitable
  • Successfully develop and implement a longitudinal residency project, and present a manuscript for publication in a reputable pharmacy journal

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for our Pharmacy Resident program, you must:

  • Have a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from a school or college of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education
  • Be able to obtain a pharmacist license within the state of residency within 90 days of the start of the residency program
  • Submit residency application materials to the Pharmacy Online Residency Integrated Application Service (PhORCAS)
  • Participate in and comply with the policies of the ASHP Resident Matching Program
  • Be immunized or willing to become immunized within 90 days of hire
