Remote Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician - Full-time

Job Title: Remote Pharmacy Technician Pay Rate: $20.00/hour Start Date: November 10th, 2025 Location: Remote (U.S.-based only) Schedule: Full-time | 8.5-hour workday (includes two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch) Position Overview: We are hiring Remote Pharmacy Technicians to join our growing team starting November 10th. This is a high-volume, inbound call position where you will provide professional and courteous support to members, healthcare providers, and other callers. The focus of this role is on managing the criteria-based prior authorization process, reviewing clinical information, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation of all determinations. This is an excellent opportunity for pharmacy technicians who thrive in fast-paced, remote environments and are passionate about delivering excellent customer service in the healthcare space. Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle a high volume of incoming calls from members, providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while educating and guiding callers through the prior authorization process.
  • Review clinical documentation for completeness and determine eligibility based on established criteria.
  • Accurately document all prior authorization approvals and denials in accordance with internal protocols.
  • Escalate cases requiring clinical judgment to a pharmacist for review.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

Work Schedule:

  • This position follows a standard 8.5-hour workday, which includes:
  • Two 15-minute breaks
  • One 30-minute unpaid lunch break
  • Daily 8-hour shifts will be assigned based on business needs and confirmed after the training period.
  • Employees will receive a permanent, consistent schedule once training is completed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a support, inbound call center, or healthcare environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, especially in high-volume settings.
  • National Pharmacy Certification or State License is PREFERRED and must be in good standing.
  • Eligible for state registration, certification, or licensure as preferred by individual state regulations.
  • Proficient with computer systems, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, prescription drug names, and pharmacy benefit processes.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working in prior authorization, PBM, or managed care environments.
  • Background in telepharmacy or other remote pharmacy-related positions.
  • Bilingual candidates (especially English/Spanish) are a plus.
