Key Responsibilities

• Provide personalized tutoring to K-12 students, either one-on-one or in small groups of up to three students, in writing and reading comprehension.
• Assist students with SAT preparation and various academic subjects, including English/American literature and literary interpretation.
• Employ teaching resources effectively to support student learning and engagement, and to foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that inspires a love for learning.
• Create customized lesson plans tailored to the needs and abilities of each student, and adjust teaching strategies as needed to ensure student progress.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents, highlighting areas of strength and improvement.
• Foster a growth mindset in students, encouraging them to take ownership of their learning and develop a love for reading and writing.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

• A bachelor's degree or higher in any relevant field, such as English, Education, or a related field.
• A minimum score of 700 on the Reading/Writing section of the SAT to qualify for high school tutoring.
• Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills, evidenced by a high level of performance on SAT-level material.
• Proficiency in critical reading and writing, with a thorough understanding of grammar principles and a background in English/American literature and literary interpretation.
• A genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to helping young learners succeed.
• Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to create a consistent weekly teaching timetable.
• Previous teaching or tutoring experience is preferred, but not required.

Preferred Qualifications
