Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2026-06-16

⚙️What we’re making: We are creating a product that will allow health insurance companies to automate prior authorization document processing responsibly. What we're looking for: Humata Health Inc. is seeking a skilled and passionate Staff Software Engineer to join our innovative team, with a focus on our AI/ML Platform and MLOps infrastructure. In this critical, high-leverage role, you'll be a core contributor to the design, architecture, and long-term vision of our scalable, secure, and multi-language backend systems that power our healthcare platform. You'll drive best practices across our ML Engineering and MLOps disciplines, ensuring reliability and performance at scale. Location: Florida, US; Remote, US ✅ Responsibilities:

  • Own the long-term technical roadmap, design, and implementation of highly available and performant services and infrastructure across the AI/ML platform, utilizing languages such as Python, Go, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, driving alignment across engineering, data science, product, and security teams on platform requirements, performance, and best practices.
  • Define and implement the strategic vision for MLOps, including advanced model versioning, feature stores, drift monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines that handle complex, regulated healthcare data with rigorous security standards.
  • Lead the development of resilient, high-throughput backend services and APIs (e.g., RESTful, gRPC) that seamlessly integrate various components of our ML system and other core services (Golang, Python).
  • Mentor and coach senior and mid-level engineers, raising the bar for engineering excellence, system observability, testing, and documentation across the entire organization.
  • Act as a critical escalation point for complex production issues, debugging and optimizing performance bottlenecks across services and infrastructure.

Role Requirements:

  • 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a significant focus on building and operating large-scale, highly available backend systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in ML Engineering, MLOps, or building data-intensive platforms.
  • Proficiency in at least one of Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript, with a deep understanding of software design patterns and architectural best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and scaling complex systems using microservices, containers (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and their ML services.
  • Proven ability to lead technical projects independently from conception through deployment
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of driving technical consensus and effective knowledge transfer.

⭐ Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience as a Staff, Principal, or equivalent technical leadership role.
  • Deep practical knowledge of MLOps tooling and principles and their application in regulated environments (e.g., experiment tracking, model serving frameworks, robust deployment strategies).
  • Experience operating within healthcare technology or other highly-regulated industries, with familiarity with standards like FHIR, HL7, and PHI/HIPAA regulations.
  • Experience with polyglot environments (e.g., Python for ML, Go for services).
  • Advanced knowledge of security best practices, especially concerning data encryption and access control for sensitive data.
  • A strong history of mentoring and contributing to open-source or internal engineering communities.
