Associate Engineer I

The Associate Engineer I will assist with reviewing electrical design drawings for renewable energy projects, develop specifications, and provide oversight during construction and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Review and provide feedback on electrical design and vendor equipment drawings, including array layouts, site electrical distribution plan, one-lines, and grounding drawings
  • Review and provide comments for the electrical calculations including short circuit, cable and conduit sizing, grounding, voltage drop, incident energy, and relay coordination
  • Conduct field inspections, which require the interpretation and implementation of contract specifications and drawings; report any deficiencies
  • Attend factory witness testing for electrical equipment
  • Support commissioning and testing program for new commercial solar projects

Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, electrical, or civil preferred)
  • 0-2 years of experience with an engineering design firm or construction management firm with an emphasis on renewable energy projects and electrical power system design
  • Experience with the National Electrical Code and electrical standards
  • Proficiency with MS Office and strong communication skills
  • Ability to scale NJRCEV assets is necessary and access rooftops
  • Travel required - 25% - 35%
  • Solar array design experience is preferred
  • Experience in commercial solar projects is plus
  • Knowledge of electrical equipment, including medium voltage switchgear, generators, inverters and transformers preferred
  • AutoCAD and PVSyst software experience preferred
