Financial Systems Programmer Analyst

Vinson & Elkins is a law firm seeking a Programmer Analyst to support their financial operations. The role involves analyzing, developing, and implementing applications while collaborating with stakeholders to optimize financial systems and support the Financial Services team’s initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of complex, cross-functional projects involving advanced data transformation and system enhancements
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions through software development and process design
  • Collaborate closely with Financial Systems & IT (FSIT) team members to design, implement, and support financial systems and applications
  • Design, develop, and maintain financial applications, including custom reports, queries, and dashboards
  • Conduct development and integration of databases and data systems to support Financial Services operations
  • Design, develop, and maintain custom business tools using the Microsoft Power Platform, including PowerApps, Power Automate, and reporting with PowerBI
  • Perform system upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Participate in initiatives to improve financial processes such as billing, eBilling, collections, cash applications, rate reviews, and special fee arrangements
  • Support and enhance system integrations with third-party tools and platforms
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and technical standards in the development of applications and solutions
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for application configurations, setup procedures, and technical processes to ensure usability and maintainability of financial systems
  • Monitor system performance and resolve access related to ensure secure and uninterrupted operations
  • Deliver end-user support across various business applications
  • Conduct development and execution of testing plans for new technologies, system upgrades, and process automation
  • Provide technical expertise on workflows, interface configurations, field and screen modifications, and third-party integrations
  • Ensure system stability and performance through proactive monitoring and issue resolution
  • Perform post-maintenance system testing to validate functionality and ensure operational stability
  • Additional duties as assigned

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/technology field and/or advanced technical training preferred
  • One to three years' experience, legal industry experience is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of web-application programming utilizing a Microsoft development stack, as well as, other programming knowledge and other functional skills
  • Knowledge of programming languages including: Visual C#, Visual Basic, Java/Java Script, Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, SSMS, SSRS, ETL tools (Alteryx or SSIS), and Boomi
  • Proficient with various software applications, including MS-Access, MS-Excel, MS-Word
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to prioritize and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and adapt to change effectively
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment under tight deadlines, and to work under pressure, maintaining composure in stressful situations
  • Manage time and multiple projects effectively
  • Maintain confidential information
  • Legal industry experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of ChromeRiver, ARCS, Aderant Design Studio, Aderant Classic and Framework applications is a distinct plus
