Sr Premium Audit Reviewer Workers Compensation

About the position This role can be filled in any Zenith Branch and is eligible for Zenith's hybrid work schedule, allowing flexibility to work from home on select days of the week according to the in-office schedule established by regional executive leadership. The position is responsible for accurate and timely verification (Physical Audits) or determination (Mail Audits) of earned premium and ensuring all state-specific and manual rules of classification are properly applied. The incumbent will maintain a high level of communication with policyholders, agents, bureaus, and internal staff on conditions that may affect the coverage and premium of policyholders. The role aims to enhance customer relationships by providing audit-related services and recommendations. Incumbents must possess the ability to handle more complex, difficult, and technically demanding audit reviews, including multi-state accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct reviews for accuracy on all policyholder payroll statements and physical audits from the field staff.
  • Ensure all applicable state and manual rules are applied correctly regarding the assigned exposure classifications.
  • Ensure all premium calculations are correct in accordance with the policyholder's policy contract and endorsements and WCIRB/NCCI manual rules and regulations.
  • Handle more complex and technically demanding audit reviews, including multi-state physical audits and interim audits.
  • Organize, prioritize, and ensure timely completion of daily workload assignments.
  • Maintain established production goals and requirements.
  • Effectively analyze and document reasons for large invoice variances.
  • Effectively communicate audit results to underwriting and agents.
  • Provide superior customer service to policyholders by addressing all of their concerns in a polite and professional manner.
  • Communicate clearly and/or compose concise written instructions to policyholders regarding payroll variances or when additional information is needed.
  • Effectively collaborate with all internal/external business partners and agents regarding premium variances, class codes/changes, and disputes.
  • Mentor and assist in providing training of department personnel when needed.
  • Follow up with Manager on progress.
  • Assist with special projects and assignments when needed and perform other job-related duties as required.
  • Provide guidance regarding manual rules and classification procedures impacting the company's exposure to Underwriting, Safety & Health, and Claims as needed.
  • Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 3+ years premium audit review experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certification - Certified Insurance Premium Auditor (CIPA) or Associate in Premium Audit (APA) a plus.
  • Accounting or financial background preferred.
  • Work experience demonstrating excellence in oral and written communication skills.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office).
  • Proficient in the use of various computer applications with emphasis in Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Available to work additional hours (OT) during peak workload periods.
