Job Description

The Pre-ETS Instructor is responsible for delivering structured Pre-Employment Transition Services to secondary and post-secondary students with disabilities through remote instruction and virtual engagement. This role focuses on preparing students for successful transitions from school to work by providing instruction, coaching, and skill-building aligned with the five required Pre-ETS areas. The Instructor works collaboratively with students, families, schools, and OPR staff to promote independence, career readiness, and informed decision-making while ensuring all services align with OPR’s mission of empowering individuals with developmental and physical disabilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver virtual Pre-Employment Transition Services aligned with the five required Pre-ETS components, including:
  • Job exploration counseling
  • Work-based learning experiences (virtual exposure and preparation)
  • Counseling on post-secondary education and training options
  • Workplace readiness training
  • Instruction in self-advocacy
  • Facilitate engaging remote group and individual sessions while adapting instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities.
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans, activities, and materials suitable for virtual learning environments.
  • Collaborate remotely with school personnel, vocational rehabilitation counselors, job coaches, and families to support student goals and service coordination.
  • Track attendance, progress notes, and service delivery data accurately and submit documentation in accordance with OPR, school system, and funding requirements.
  • Support students in identifying career interests, strengths, and goals and assist with transition planning activities as appropriate.
  • Maintain regular communication with OPR program staff regarding student progress, challenges, and successes.
  • Apply behavior management, de-escalation, and crisis intervention strategies as needed to ensure a safe and supportive virtual learning environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all student records and program data in compliance with applicable laws and OPR policies.
  • Participate in required virtual trainings, staff meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Remain current on best practices related to virtual Pre-ETS delivery, disability services, and inclusive employment strategies.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills

  • Must reside in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, human services, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, or a related field OR a minimum of two (2) years of direct experience working with youth or young adults in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students with disabilities, including intellectual, developmental, and/or physical disabilities.
  • Background in education, social work, special education, transition services, or youth development strongly preferred.
  • Experience delivering instruction or services in a remote or virtual setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and documentation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage students and families virtually.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team.
  • Proficient with virtual platforms and basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Zoom, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of Pre-ETS, transition services, and inclusive employment strategies preferred.
  • Self-starter with reliability, flexibility, and a student-centered mindset.

Location This is a REMOTE position. All services and meetings are conducted virtually. Evening and weekend availability is required. Job Type: Part-time Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour Application Question(s):
