Job Description

CTG is seeking to fill a Backend Developer (Node.js/TypeScript) position for our client. Location: Remote Duration: 12 months Duties:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Build reusable modules and components with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Develop and integrate event-driven services using Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, and message processing workflows.
  • Implement error handling, retry strategies, and operational visibility for Kafka-based services.
  • Build, deploy, and support cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure following security and architectural best practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment configuration.
  • Troubleshoot production issues by analyzing logs and metrics, identifying root causes, and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Enhance system observability through monitoring, dashboards, alerts, and operational documentation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, refine requirements, estimate work, and deliver iterative solutions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and operations teams to ensure successful delivery.

Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript for backend development.
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs and building distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience developing and deploying applications on Microsoft Azure.
  • Knowledge of Git-based workflows, pull requests, and code review practices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of application monitoring, logging, and production support processes.

Experience:

  • Proven experience developing scalable backend services in a cloud environment.
  • Experience building and supporting production systems with high availability and reliability requirements.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred: Experience with Azure DevOps or similar pipeline tools.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with observability practices such as metrics, tracing, and dashboards.
  • Preferred: Experience integrating backend services with frontend applications or API gateways.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
