AI/ML Data Scientist with advanced analytics experience

Job Summary InnoVet Health, a small and growing business that provides health IT professional services to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is seeking an AI/ML Data Scientist with deep expertise in advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), large language models (LLM), and cloud computing. The ideal candidate excels at translating complex requirements into clear insights, actionable predictions, and meaningful business intelligence. The position offers stimulating advanced analytics activities (AI/ML), in a rich healthcare environment, interacting with senior staff. This position is full-time and does not require relocating (work remotely). The pay, benefits, and growth potential are competitive. Responsibilities - Lead AI/ML initiatives and project teams in a customer-facing role, managing engagements and relationships with senior-level stakeholders at VA. - Lead AI/ML growth through active participation in business development, strategic planning, proposal writing, and creating AI/ML demos and presentations. - Collect, elaborate, and manage technical and business requirements gathered from VA stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals. - Design, build, deploy, and maintain advanced AI/ML/NLP/LLM applications using AWS and Azure cloud platforms, incorporating best practices for model lifecycle management. - Develop and optimize diagnostic and predictive models (e.g., logistic regression, random forests, decision trees) leveraging large healthcare data sets and applying statistical methodologies. - Operationalize models in AWS/Azure and other analytics platforms (e.g. Databricks) by integrating them into workflows, ensuring ease of use, accuracy, scalability, and compliance with healthcare industry standards. - Perform comprehensive data acquisition, profiling, cleansing, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and validation to ensure data quality and integrity. - Clearly articulate and present analytical results, insights, and recommendations to diverse audiences through business proposals, written reports, white papers, and executive presentations. - Management duties related to managing relationships with VA client, participating in project management review meetings, recruitment and mentoring personnel working on AI/ML projects. Qualifications - MS degree in data science, statistics, or computer/information science or similar area a minimum - Minimum of 5 years of hands-on advanced analytics (AI/ML) experience, with demonstrable expertise in AWS and Azure cloud environments. - Proven track record in developing and implementing AI/ML/NLP/LLM models, automation solutions, and analytics pipelines. - Strong programming proficiency in Python and Scala, and relevant libraries/frameworks. - Expertise in data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI, ggplot, seaborn). - Exceptional problem-solving abilities, interpersonal skills, and professional-level written and verbal communication, with the capability to produce detailed documentation and compelling presentations. - Experience building impactful and persuasive demos to illustrate advanced analytics capabilities to technical and non-technical audiences. - Prior experience in healthcare analytics, research, and consulting highly preferred. - Must possess a valid Green Card or be a U.S. citizen. - No consideration given to 1099, corp-to-corp, or international outsourcing and staffing agencies.
