RAN Integration Engineer

About the position The RAN Integration Engineer must use creativity and sound judgment to deploy and support the complex network roll out and is responsible for the end-to-end commissioning and integration of wireless network sites (LTE/5G) from a remote location. This role acts as the technical bridge between field technicians and the core network, ensuring new or upgraded sites are functional, stable, and compliant with Verizon standards. Must have strong understanding of client tools, applications, processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • RAN engineers must be able to communicate with cross-functional teams to achieve results.
  • Will be key interface and POC for customers and will drive the entire project, excellent communication skills is a must.
  • RAN engineers should attend daily market calls and provide status updates to the customer.
  • Deep knowledge of Ericsson Basebands (RP6651/ 6655/ 6672, 6630,6648) configuration changes & Migrations or Nokia (NetAct) Hardware is required
  • Proficiency in software tools like ENM, SecureCRT, CLI, and SHM for remote configuration.
  • 1G to 10G backhaul upgrades & Troubleshooting
  • Scripting and troubleshooting, Frequency retuning strategies
  • Experience working on Macro/ DAS/ COW/ Small Cell integrations on Verizon systems is a must
  • Support on the fly scripting for antenna/RRU swaps, perform RET validations, define external alarms, frequency retunes, and perform site reconfiguration as needed.
  • Provide support to drive testing crews by locking/unlocking sectors and making changes as required.
  • Validate and script port mapping as per design.
  • Ability to understand, create and follow MOPs.
  • Creation of Change Records and Tickets to support assigned work.
  • Works with our local GCs, Real Time Performance Team, and Field Operations Team.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical degree; or 7 years of equivalent work experience required.
  • Must be strong self-starter, ability to drive results and must be willing to learn new technologie
  • Must have leadership skills, have attitude of getting things done.
  • Min 3-8 yrs experience – providing remote integration support on 2G/3G/LTE & 5G and managing the projects
  • Must have hands-on integration experience working Verizon Networks.
  • Must have hands-on experience working on BBU (Baseband Unit) configurations, IXRE router commissioning, troubleshooting & migrations and scripting alarms (SCU or 6610)
  • Must have strong experience working on integration and alarm clearing of GSM/UMTS/4G/5G on Ericsson or Nokia hardware
  • Should be able to manage multiple projects (IXR-E migration, Carrier integration, anchor projects) in fast paced environment.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to Field Operations Team (Field Integrator) and collaborate with end client integration center.
  • Strong skills in both Integration, RF and good understanding of transport disciplines and attention to detail
  • Network Technologies: Extensive hands-on experience with 2G/3G/LTE/5G integration
  • Hardware Expertise: Proficiency with Ericsson hardware (BBUs including RP6651/6655/ 6672, 6630, 6648) and Nokia equipment
  • Router Knowledge: Experience with IXRE router commissioning, troubleshooting, and migrations
  • Backhaul Management: Capability to perform 1G to 10G backhaul upgrades and troubleshooting
  • Scripting Skills: Ability to create and troubleshoot scripts for antenna/RRU swaps, RET validations, external alarms, frequency retunes, and site reconfigurations
  • Drive Test Support: Experience providing support to drive testing crews through sector locking/unlocking and power adjustments
  • Port Mapping: Skills to validate and script port mapping according to design specification
  • Required Experience: Minimum 3-8 years in remote integration support.
  • Specific experience with Verizon networks.
  • Proven track record with macro integrations on Verizon systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications: CCNA or relevant OEM certifications (Ericsson/Nokia) are highly preferred.
