Freelance Social Media Strategist

We are seeking a freelance social media strategist with at least three years of experience working across both B2B and Gen Z-focused campaigns. This freelance role will support strategic development across client engagements, helping define content pillars, campaign concepts, and platform-specific strategies that drive engagement and growth. You’ll work closely with our account, creative, and paid media teams to deliver smart, scroll-stopping ideas with purpose. This is a remote freelance position with flexible hours, though candidates in the Eastern or Central Time Zones are preferred for collaboration. Freelancers work under the guidance of our Chief Strategy Officer and may be brought in across a range of projects depending on fit and availability. Your Responsibilities Social Strategy & Ideation

• Develop organic and paid social strategies rooted in client goals, audience insights, and platform best practices.
• Define content pillars, campaign ideas, and channel-specific approaches for LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and more. Translate strategic insights into editorial calendars, social playbooks, and creative briefs. Trendspotting & Cultural Insight
• Monitor platform updates, cultural trends, and audience behaviors to inform strategy and ideation.
• Deliver ongoing recommendations for optimizing social content based on performance and trends. Conduct social audits and competitor scans as needed. Client & Team Collaboration
• Join client-facing meetings to present social strategy and support campaign planning.
• Partner with account and creative teams to ensure social content aligns with broader campaign goals and messaging. Collaborate with paid media and analytics teams to refine strategies based on performance data. Content & Messaging Development
• Write channel-specific copy drafts and social-first messaging frameworks.
• Help develop moodboards, mockups, or tone-of-voice examples to guide creative execution.
• Support creative review and provide guidance to designers, editors, and copywriters on what works for each platform. Your Qualifications
• At least 3 years of experience developing social media strategies for campaigns or brands, ideally in an agency or content-focused environment.
• Proven experience creating for both Gen Z and B2B audiences, with fluency across major platforms including TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
• Strong understanding of social best practices, including organic content, paid strategy, and audience behavior. Sharp writing and visual sensibility; comfortable turning abstract ideas into scroll-stopping concepts.
• Experience with nonprofits, health care, or purpose-led campaigns is a plus. Comfortable working independently in a remote environment, and collaborating across time zones.
