Overview:

  • *This is 100% remote position. CHLA requires a primary residence in California prior to start date.**

Schedule: Monday-Friday; 9:00AM - 5:00PM Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Board Certified Genetic Counselor II is responsible for providing pediatric clinical genetic counseling services to patients and their parents. The Genetic Counselor II works collaboratively with our Geneticists and/or specialty providers to deliver comprehensive assessments and medical genetic counseling, reviews implications with the patient and families and provides crisis intervention regarding genetic conditions. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 2+ years of experience as a Genetic Counselor required.

  • Experience in pediatric genetics or equivalent work is preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical interpretation of exome and NSG-based tests is preferred.
  • Solid experience in pedigree analysis, risk assessment, screening, testing, and counseling.
  • Extensive understanding of human genetics, clinical features of genetic diseases, and genetic testing methodologies (cytogenetics, biochemical genetics, molecular genetics).

Education/Licensure/Certifications: Required:

  • Master’s degree from an ABGC-accredited genetic counseling training program.
  • Genetic Counselor License issued by the State of California.
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) or the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG).

Pay Scale Information: CHLA values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization. Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to education and experience within the job or the industry. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. Additional pay may be determined for those candidates that exceed these specified qualifications and requirements.
