Senior FP&A Analyst (Financial Planning & Analysis)

About the position The Senior FP&A Analyst will play a critical role in financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis within a government contracting environment. This position supports executive leadership, program managers, and business development teams by delivering actionable financial insights, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and driving financial performance across contracts. Candidates must be able to travel to our HQ in Herndon, VA (hybrid working opportunity)

Responsibilities

  • Lead annual budgeting and long-range planning processes
  • Develop and maintain monthly forecasts for revenue, backlog, and profitability
  • Analyze variances between actuals, budget, and forecast
  • Financial management and reporting for the program, to include Scheduling, ETC and EAC preparation, revenue, and profit projections.
  • Track project costs, analyze variances, and support corrective action plans.
  • Partner with Program Managers to monitor contract performance (cost, revenue, margin)
  • Review contract funding, burn rates, and profitability metrics
  • Provide oversight and guidance to other Project Controllers
  • Ensure adherence to government contracting regulations (FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements)
  • Support incurred cost submissions (ICS) and audit readiness
  • Assist with indirect rate calculations (wrap rates, fringe, overhead, G&A)
  • Ensure compliance with the Company policies and procedures.
  • Provide detailed financial modeling and scenario analysis
  • Deliver insights on key company metrics: i.e. utilization, indirect costs, contract mix
  • Create executive reports and dashboards promptly and professionally.
  • Enhance financial systems, tools, and reporting processes
  • Automate forecasting and reporting workflows where possible
  • Utilize and recommend AI improvements
  • Provide Revenue and Direct cost analysis during Monthly Close
  • Support pricing strategies for proposals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field with 5-8+ years of FP&A or finance experience, preferably in government contracting
  • Experience supporting DoD, civilian agencies, or federal contracts strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise with FFP, T&M, and CPFF government contracts
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction.
  • Intermediate to Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel required (ie. Power Query, Advance Formulas, Pivot Tables)
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
  • Outstanding financial analysis skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Developed problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented individual with strong work ethic
  • Excellent presentation & communication skills in both oral and written form
  • Takes initiative and contributes actively to a fast-growing, results-driven team
