Position Summary: Provides reading, math or other elementary-level subject intervention to students, and works with Houston area schools to organize, develop and implement programs for students with, or at-risk for, difficulties. Position Key Accountabilities: * Provides administrative and technical expertise in organizing, developing, and implementing various reading programs, and/or provides reading intervention to individual students, or in small groups.

• Serves as a mentor/coach in elementary-level classrooms; may deliver and prepare lesson plans for intervention lessons.
• Maintains accurate and complete records including assessment results, lesson plans, and other documentation as required; and maintains the prescribed schedule for intervention lessons.
• May assist teachers by translating results from the English language early reading instrument (TPRI) to differentiate instruction.
• May observe classroom instruction using forms designed by the research project.
• Attends and participates in intervention meetings and training and coaching sessions with various team members as required; and meets with teachers to discuss instructional planning based on assessment results as required.
• Complies with all University and HISD regulations, policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills: Bilingual skills preferred, English/Spanish, based on assignment. Teaching certificate in elementary education preferred. Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Elementary Education preferred. Minimum Experience: One year of related experience; previous experience in teaching or tutoring students is preferred. Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
