Design Manager (Solar)

Department: Engineering Location: START YOUR APPLICATION

About the Role: Voltage LLC is seeking a Design Manager to lead a team of design engineers in creating innovative Electrical Balance of System (EBOS) solutions for utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, ensuring designs are efficient, manufacturable, and compliant with NEC standards (IEC, IEEE, and NETA knowledge preferred).

What You�ll Do

  • Build and manage a high-performing design engineering team (2�8 direct reports).
  • Oversee EBOS design for PV harnesses, DC feeders, MV cables, and related components.
  • Review and approve designs for accuracy, compliance, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Project Engineering, and Production teams to deliver optimized solutions.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives and continuous improvement processes.

What We�re Looking For

  • Education: Bachelor�s in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years in PV, electrical design, or EBOS engineering.
    • 2+ years in engineering leadership or supervisory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and PV system design principles.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with PVsyst preferred.
  • Ability to interpret plan sets, single-line diagrams, and technical schematics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with manufacturing/production teams.
  • Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and NETA standards.
  • Utility-scale solar project experience.
  • Mandarin fluency (a plus, not required).
