Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Customer Service Benefit Advocate to join our team. As a Customer Service Benefit Advocate, you'll play a critical role in helping our customers navigate the complexities of health care. You'll be responsible for responding to and resolving customer service inquiries and issues, guiding and educating customers about health care topics, and advocating on their behalf to ensure they receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities

* Respond to and resolve customer service inquiries and issues on the first call, identifying the topic and type of assistance the caller needs

  • Help guide and educate customers about the fundamentals and benefits of consumer-driven health care topics, including benefits, eligibility, and claims
  • Contact care providers (doctor's offices) on behalf of the customer to assist with appointment scheduling or connections with internal specialists for assistance
  • Assist customers in navigating myuhc.com and other arenaflex websites and encourage and reassure them to become self-sufficient
  • Research complex issues pertaining to the caller's health, status, and potential plan options, navigating across multiple databases with fluency in computer navigation and toggling while confidently and compassionately engaging with the caller

Requirements

* High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience

  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 6+ months of customer service experience
  • Experience with computer and Windows PC applications, including the ability to learn new and complex computer system applications
  • Ability to work any shift between the hours of 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM EST from Monday - Friday, including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends based on business need
  • Ability to reside within a reasonable distance of our office in Greensboro, NC
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Preferred Qualifications

* Health Care / Insurance environment (familiarity with medical terminology, health plan documents, or benefit plan design)

  • Social work, behavioral health, disease prevention, health promotion, and behavior change (working with vulnerable populations)

Telecommuting Requirements

* Ability to work remotely from home

  • Ability to maintain a dedicated workspace that is free from distractions and interruptions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Ability to use a computer and internet connection to access company systems and resources

Compensation and Benefits

* Hourly range: $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment
