Job Focus Areas
This Education Consultant Supervisor position is located within the Office of Teaching and Learning, Division of K-12 Literacy and reports to the Education Division Director. This position is responsible for a full range of duties, including the oversight of professional development, training, and support, for all K-12 literacy initiatives. The Department's Literacy Division believes all Louisiana students will have improved literacy outcomes through high-quality instruction and interactions by an effective teacher who is supported by leaders and families. This position is responsible for implementing and coordinating activities associated with K-12 literacy in Louisiana and managing the following program areas and related projects: * K-12 literacy professional development
- Development and implementation of literacy resources
- Leader and School System support
- Supervises and manages staff that are responsible for leading and managing literacy improvement initiatives
- Develops and established a statewide strategy for and supervises staff that provides leader and teacher professional development
- Oversees and manages the development and implementation of literacy initiatives across all stages of literacy development
- Collaborates with other teams tasked with implementing the Department's academic strategy to develop and implement strategy for providing aligned, coherent set of tools for literacy supports for birth through twelfth grade
- Makes recommendations for policy and programs related to birth to twelfth grade literacy
- Advises and assists Department personnel, local superintendents of education, state and local school boards, legislative bodies, central office personnel, early childhood directors, and others on policies, guidelines, and laws
- Develops strategy, scope, and sequence of technical assistance and professional development activities provided by Department staff, vendors, and consultants to support the state's burth through twelfth literacy initiatives
- Serves as a liaison between the general public and the Department by providing assistance to students/children, parents, local administrators, and teachers by providing interpretation of state and federal legislation and regulations upon request
- Oversees the maintenance and monitoring of federal and state budgets, purchases, or contracts related to literacy, as needed.
- Oversees the operation, implementation, and logistics of federal, state, and local grants
- Completes all other duties as assigned by Division Director and Assistant Superintendent.
