General Summary:
Implements a team based advising model designed to guide advisees throughout their four years at Agnes Scott College within the guidelines of federal, state, and local laws, and college and departmental policies and procedures. Reports to the assistant director of academic advising and works with co-workers, faculty, staff, students and their families, and other outside contacts to support the students and growth of the college.

Essential Job Functions: * Collaborates with students from enrollment through graduation to develop and document a customized educational plan that includes course exploration, major and career goals, service learning, and impactful experiences such as study abroad, internships and mentored research.
- Designs and teaches the SUM 110 Academics Foundations Lab for 7 weeks to first-year students.
- Develops advising materials and presentations to support individual and group student sessions.
- Provides support, strategies and connect advisees to resources (i.e. tutoring, counseling, financial aid, disability services study abroad, internships etc.) as they develop academic plans of study to achieve degree completion that align with their strengths, personal and professional goals.
- Manages advisee's advising team and maintain systematic and frequent contact with the advisees and team members at times outside of course selection.
- Prompts advisees to reflect upon the integration of their liberal arts curriculum, global learning, leadership development, and their major course of study.
- Interprets and disseminates information on institutional policies and procedures.
- Reviews and interprets degree audits, transcripts, placement and other standardized test scores.
- Stays abreast of changing institutional information including admissions requirements, new programs, course changes, deadlines, and important dates for college-wide initiatives.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and others from a variety of different backgrounds, experiences and abilities.
- Must be able to communicate effectively to others
- Bilingual and interpersonal communication skills preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintain confidentiality and abide by the Agnes Scott College Honor Code.
- Demonstrated excellence in planning and organizing work and records; coordinating with others to complete tasks in a timely manner; and bring work flows to a successful conclusion.
- Knowledge of student development theories and familiarity with current advising trends/best practices.
- Experience executing problem solving skills and maintaining appropriate boundaries with student advising load.
- Student database software preferred.
- International experience preferred.
- Assessment experience preferred.
