The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education (COE) at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) is seeking applications for a full-time instructor to teach undergraduate and graduate early childhood courses.
Department of Curriculum and Instruction (DCI)
The DCI is home to 25 tenured/tenure earning faculty, three instructors, and adjuncts. There are 18 academic programs, with eight undergraduate programs and 10 graduate programs (eight master?s, one specialist and one doctoral). The department prepares elementary and secondary teachers, early care education professionals, and other educational professionals (e.g., educational psychologists). The early childhood degree program is a blended, early childhood/early childhood special education degree, offered jointly with the Department of Special Education. Position Responsibilities
We seek an instructor who will enhance, develop, and teach core undergraduate and graduate early childhood education courses. The instructor will be assigned to the Department of Curriculum and Instruction with some teaching responsibilities for courses offered within the joint early childhood degree program with the Department of Special Education. The candidate must have the knowledge, skills, and disposition to teach across a variety of platforms (e.g., face-to-face, hybrid, synchronous, and asynchronous online) and content areas (e.g., blended early childhood/early childhood special education). The successful candidate should demonstrate enthusiasm for the subject matter, an inclusive and equity-driven approach to teaching and learning, and innovative pedagogical strategies. Additionally, candidates will implement instructional methods and techniques used in early learning classrooms, the process and purpose of observation and assessment in an academic practicum setting, and plan curriculum for the degree program. The candidate will be expected to promote the mission and goals of the Department, College, University, and field by participating in faculty meetings and assigned department committees, and working collaboratively and ethically with other faculty, staff, and students.

Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications
- A background of clinical practice and/or teaching experience in early childhood settings. These include, but are not limited to Universal Pre-Kindergarten, Head Start/Early Head Start, early childhood/inclusive settings employing the use of home visits, early intervention, early childhood special education teaching methodologies, applied behavior analysis, or speech/language interventions.,
- Demonstrated commitment to research partnerships that include key stakeholders such as parents/caregivers, self-advocates, schools, early interventionists, and/or community organizations to improve systems of support for young children.
- Participation in local or national early childhood professional organizations organizations/conferences (e.g., CEC-DEC, NAEYC, National Head Start Association)
