Job description: The City of Evanston Gymnastics Program offers instructional classes to children ages 18 months to 14 years. The Morning Gymnastics Instructor is responsible for coaching ages 1.5-3.5 years in Gymnastics with a Grown Up group classes and 3.5-5.5 years in Preschool Gymnastics group classes, according to the provided weekly lesson plans. Opportunities to coach private lessons and birthday parties are available.
Supervision:
This position reports to the Gymnastic Supervisor and the Chandler-Newberger Program Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Must possess four (4) years of experience working with ages 1.5-5.5 years in an instructional group setting, including one (1) year or more of supervisory experience within a gymnastics, tumbling, or dance program.
- Must possess or be willing to obtain USAG Recreational Coach Membership and maintain it as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid certification from a nationally recognized institution and maintain it as a condition of employment.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of child developmental milestones.
- Attend staff training sessions
- Be positive, patient, and engaging
- Responsible for the safety of participants
- Instruct and facilitate program activities for participants, according to weekly lesson plans
- Assist with program set up as needed
- Maintain open communication with the Program Supervisor/Coordinator, other staff, and Family/Guardian/Caregiver with information concerning programming, families, and/or participants
- Report participant progress and behavior within program setting to parents/Supervisor
- Ensure all participants are properly dismissed to caregiver
- Communicate to supervisor(s) if there are problems or issues needing special attention
- Responsible for care and maintenance equipment and storage areas.
- Complete written reports such as accident, incident and the like on a timely manner
- Performs other duties as assigned by camp director, camp assistant directors or program manager
- Monday and Friday morning availability required. Opportunities for additional weekday classes are possible.
- Saturday morning availability preferred.
