Account Manager – Remote (San Jose, CA) Hamamatsu, one of the world’s largest suppliers of advanced light detectors and detector systems for industrial, scientific, and commercial applications, has an immediate opening for an Account Manager. Our customer base is remarkably diverse; we serve Fortune 100 firms, top research labs, and innovative startups as well. Hamamatsu’s mission is to improve the welfare of society through the advancement of photonics technology. Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the OEM semiconductor market, including CMS management and email follow-ups; support customer and parent company video calls, customer visits, visit reporting, opportunity progression, and escalation support. Ensure smooth coordination across internal teams supporting the account in areas such as order processing, pricing, quoting, rejections, deliveries, forecasting, and related activities.
  • Develop and execute strategies to maximize sales and profitability through initiatives including new product introductions, proactive opportunity identification, competitive displacement or share growth, and influencing the parent company to develop or customize products. Ensure projects and business lines receive appropriate support to maximize success, maintain high confidence levels with both customers and the parent company, and leverage comprehensive market intelligence (competition, tool cost, market dynamics, etc.) to achieve the highest customer-acceptable pricing.
  • Drive, negotiate, or support negotiations for legal and partnership agreements as applicable, including pricing agreements, purchasing agreements, business agreements, joint development agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and sales agreements. Obtain management approvals from Hamamatsu and the parent company throughout the process as required.
  • Create and maintain advanced account and market management tools such as project trackers, consolidated presentations, spreadsheet trackers, price lists, RFQ documentation, escalation tracking materials, business projections, and sales history overviews. Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with communication tools including Excel and PowerPoint, as well as internal systems such as AX, CMS, and CRM.
  • Build and sustain strong, strategic relationships with key stakeholders at multiple levels. Cultivate executive-level and working-level relationships across the customer, Hamamatsu, and the parent company, enabling effective strategic alignment (e.g., between Hamamatsu leadership, customer division heads, and parent company executives). Establish trusted working relationships with key technical and business decision-makers and support staff on both sides, including engineers, managers, and buyers.
Required Qualifications:
  • BS Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Ph.D. or equivalent of work experience (~5+ yrs)
  • Education or experience in photonics, semiconductor manufacturing, lasers, microscope optics, new technique development, and road map coordination.
  • Candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Proven hands-on technical expertise (e.gs. device engineering, system support, etc.)
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office experience
Preferred Qualifications:            
  • Background in semiconductor manufacturing
  • Experience with semiconductor inspection and metrology markets
  • Presentation experience
  • Collaborative experience contributing toward team goals.
