Job description:
- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Certification, including Teacher of English Learners Certification
- Clean Criminal Background Check, TB Test, and Child Protection Registry Clearance must be completed prior to start of employment
- Deliver high quality instruction in small group settings in both push-in and pull-out models to ML students.
- Administer required language proficiency and academic achievement tests for determining placement of students, along with ongoing monitoring of student progress.
- Assist in developing and modifying appropriate curriculum to help ML students acquire the English language.
- Participate in professional learning communities to refine curriculum, share student data, and develop appropriate activities to help ML students.
- Participate in school and community functions to serve as an advocate for ML students and families.
- Record and maintain accurate data records for students who receive ML services as required by law, district policies and administrative regulations.
- Teaches assigned classes using the educational philosophy and policies adopted by the Board of Education.
- Utilizes State and District curriculum guidelines in carrying out teaching assignments.
- Uses available resources, plans and implements a program of study that meets students' needs, interests, and abilities.
- Provides a standards-based, content aligned learning framework that establishes clear goals and objectives for all lessons and assignments.
- Interprets and uses data from a variety of educational sources for the improvement of instruction.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Recognizes the importance of parent/guardian and teacher cooperation and confers with parents as appropriate.
- Collaborates with the student support team to support students? academic, behavioral and mental health needs.
- Maintains a professional relationship, working cooperatively with all school personnel.
- Meets responsibilities as per contractual agreement and State law.
- Participates actively in professional growth activities, collaborative groups and Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Encourages students to behave in accordance with classroom and school rules.
- Performs other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of the students.
