REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Fiscal Services
DEFINITION: Provides on-site and phone/email support to school-based staff responsible for the processing and oversight of school activity funds and school operating budgets. Completes daily, monthly, and year-end accounting tasks for the entire school system. Reviews, reconciles, and analyzes reports, prepares annual consolidated financial statements, monitors compliance with established policies and procedures, develops training materials, conducts training, and provides telephone support for all schools and offices affected by the accounting operation. May participate in the design and development of automated systems for accounting related functions. Performs other duties as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Prepares Agency Fund financial statements, schedules, and footnote disclosures required for inclusion in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
- Assists the Fiscal Supervisor with all aspects of School Activity Funds accounting.
- Verifies and reconciles information housed in payroll and financial systems.
- Reviews disbursements, journal entry requests, and cash remittances.
- Reviews transactions for compliance with procedures and State financial reporting requirements.
- Consults with and assists principals, school-based secretaries, fiscal assistants, office/department heads, and other account managers, with questions about accounting procedures and the financial accounting system.
- Develops training materials related to school-based financial accounting issues for principals, school-based secretaries, fiscal assistants.
- Participates in the training of principals, school-based secretaries, and fiscal assistants related to School Activity Funds financial accounting issues and monitoring of school budgets.
- Requires frequent travel to schools and training facilities.
- Conducts financial activity analyses as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- All persons employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools, regular and temporary, are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109. An identification card will be issued which must be shown prior to employment.
- Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
- If you have military experience, you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
- Official transcripts for all higher education must be received prior to contract signing.
- Some positions will require employees to undergo a physical examination and/or drug testing.

- Additional job verification will be required for salary credit.
