The Systems Administration Specialist II is responsible for advanced administration, maintenance, and support of the organization’s server and cloud infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of core systems by applying deeper technical expertise, executing moderately complex configurations, and resolving escalated issues. The Specialist II contributes to operational improvements through automation, documentation, and process refinement, while collaborating closely with IT teams to support business needs and maintain a reliable, well-managed technology environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise for global administration of Active Directory, VMWare, Windows, Linux, and Cloud environments
  • Implement and maintain security controls and best practices to protect server infrastructure from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Lead small to mid-sized technical tasks or workstreams, such as structured upgrades, environment clean-ups, application server deployments, or infrastructure enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams by providing technical input and executing assigned deliverables.
  • Coordinate and execute server-related integration processes, leveraging best practices to ensure efficient and seamless technology transitions.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to increase system reliability and efficiency.
  • Document operational processes, procedures, and system configurations to ensure consistent execution across the team.
  • Participate in incident response activities and on-call rotation, assisting with root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Take on additional technical responsibilities as needed to support the company’s strategic objectives.

Requirements (Qualifications and Experience)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 5-8 years of experience in Server and Cloud Administration, including support and design of enterprise environments.
  • Strong operational experience with Active Directory management in a multi-domain environment.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, YAML, and Python, with a focus on process automation.
  • Hypervisor experience, configuring, maintaining, and supporting an Enterprise environment (e.g., VMware).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and hybrid connectivity configurations.
  • Disaster recovery skills on Active Directory, Windows Servers, and various applications.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, customer-centric, and able to work without supervision.
  • Ability to adhere to company security, risk, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including accurate documentation and status reporting.
