Chart Auditor - Chart Audit

POSITION SUMMARY: The Chart Auditor will be responsible for reviewing medical records for accuracy, quality assurance, and billing purposes. The Chart Auditor will be responsible for assessing medical records to determine if the Evaluation and Management (E/M), procedures, and HCC/ICD-10 codes are within the health care policies and standards. The Chart Auditor will perform internal audits and remain up to date on current policy and procedural guidelines to ensure the proper coding and policy guidelines are followed. The Chart Auditor will be responsible for promoting and encouraging compliance through the appropriate education and training parameters. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification or Registered Nurse with clinical experience in both hospital and office nursing, required If candidate is a Registered Nurse, without coding certification, then CPC certification through the AAPC must be obtained within 6 months of hire. The Certified Evaluation and Management Coder (CEMC) certification must also be obtained within one year of hire for a Registered Nurse. Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCs codes, required Must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology, required QUALIFICATIONS: Strong communication skills, both oral and written, as communication with providers and managerial staff is required. Knowledge and experience in Medicare rules and regulations, coding and billing principles. Must be motivated and possess strong communication, problem solving, and capable of working effectively with physicians and non-physicians. Must have strong oral presentation skills as group presentations may be required. Must possess strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to complete multiple tasks within a designated time frame.
