Team Lead - Logistics Coordinator

Our client is looking for a motivated and experienced Team Lead for their Logistics Coordination department in Kansas City, Missouri, US . This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations, managing a team of dispatchers and route planners, and ensuring the efficient flow of goods. As a Team Lead, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to improve delivery times, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational performance. Your responsibilities will encompass supervising staff, providing training and performance feedback, resolving complex logistical issues, and liaising with other departments, including sales and warehousing, to ensure seamless operations. You will play a key role in maintaining strong relationships with carriers and suppliers, negotiating contracts, and monitoring their performance. A deep understanding of supply chain management, transportation regulations, and industry best practices is essential. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, strong analytical skills, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership qualities, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to fostering a collaborative and productive team environment. You will be responsible for analyzing operational data, identifying trends, and recommending improvements. Responsibilities include Supervising and guiding a team of logistics coordinators and dispatchers. Managing daily dispatching and route planning operations for efficient delivery schedules. Developing and implementing strategies to optimize delivery routes and reduce transit times. Resolving escalated logistical challenges and providing effective solutions. Collaborating with warehouse and sales teams to ensure timely order fulfillment. Negotiating and managing contracts with third-party carriers and suppliers. Monitoring carrier performance and ensuring adherence to service level agreements. Analyzing operational data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings. Ensuring compliance with all transportation regulations and safety standards. Conducting regular performance reviews and providing constructive feedback to team members. Facilitating training programs for new and existing staff. Maintaining clear and concise communication channels within the team and with stakeholders.

Qualifications

Proven experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role. Demonstrated leadership and team management skills. Strong understanding of transportation management systems (TMS) and routing software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency in data analysis and reporting. Knowledge of relevant DOT regulations and safety protocols. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred. Experience in the Kansas City, Missouri, US logistics landscape is a plus.
