For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Security Engineer.
• Core Knowledge & Skills Applies advanced network security, cryptography, vulnerability assessment, regulatory compliance, and access/governance principles.
• Work & Complexity Conducts security assessments, handles incidents, implements policies, configures advanced security settings, and manages security devices.
• Quality & Independence Conducts thorough assessments, produces clear documentation, improves practices, and works independently within project scope.

• Consulting & Engagement Advises internal teams, optimizes processes, evaluates technologies, and coordinates vendor support. As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a AWS Team Security and Compliance Engineer. Project Summary AIS is supporting federal customer with a program focused on architecture and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Owns and manages the development of InfoSec engineering designs and implementation.
• Identifies security issues and risks, and develop mitigation plans for standards for cloud implementations.
• Architect, design, implement, support, and evaluate security-focused tools and services.
• Oversee assessment and mitigation of system security threats/risks throughout the program life cycle; validation of system security requirements definition and analysis; establishing system security designs.
• Supports implementing security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures and verification of security requirements.
• Additional details AWS Security provider tooling Yes AWS IAM, KMS, GuardDuty, Inspector, Macie, Security Hub, CloudTrail, CloudWatch. Required For This Opportunity
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience supporting cloud security, compliance, and risk management initiatives in AWS environments.
• Hands-on experience implementing and monitoring AWS security controls, including IAM, network security, logging, encryption, and continuous compliance tooling.
• Strong knowledge of federal and DoD security frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, DoD cloud policies).
• Experience supporting audits, ATO packages, POA&Ms, and ongoing security operations in regulated environments.
• Active Secret clearance or higher, with ability to support federal mission customers.
• IAT Level II certification (DoD 8570/8140 compliant) and one or more cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP).

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $80,000-$121,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
