Why This Role Matters

In today’s fast‑moving digital landscape, data is the lifeblood of every successful product and service. The Lead Data Engineer will be a cornerstone of our Commitment and Maintenance Information Designing team, driving the design, implementation, and optimization of large‑scale data platforms that power critical business insights, advertising effectiveness, and new revenue streams. This is a unique opportunity to join a forward‑thinking group that values curiosity, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and build robust data warehousing solutions that support both on‑premise and cloud environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Design, develop, and maintain end‑to‑end ETL pipelines using technologies such as Hadoop, AWS, Snowflake, Flink, and Kafka to ingest, transform, and store massive data sets.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Product Owners, Data Modelers, and Data Architects to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver production‑ready data solutions.
  • Implement and enforce best practices for data modeling, data quality, and metadata management across the enterprise data lake.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and fine‑tune data pipelines to meet stringent Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and ensure high availability for downstream analytics teams.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of data flows, schema changes, and operational procedures to support governance and auditability.
  • Participate actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of knowledge sharing, code reviews, and peer learning.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong command of SQL with the ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and build reusable data sets.
  • Hands‑on experience with big‑data frameworks such as Hadoop (HDFS, Hive, Impala, PySpark) and stream‑processing platforms like Flink.
  • Proficiency in programming languages including Python and Java/Scala for data pipeline development.
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one major MPP or cloud data warehouse technology (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery).
  • Familiarity with data integration tools and workflow orchestration (e.g., Airflow, Luigi, or similar).
  • Understanding of data governance, data lineage, and data quality frameworks.
  • Experience working in Scrum or other Agile methodologies, with a focus on delivering incremental value.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Exposure to cloud services on AWS (S3, EMR, EC2, Lambda) or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) for deploying data services.
  • Knowledge of machine learning pipelines and how data engineering supports model training and serving.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive attitude toward identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for staying current with emerging data technologies and industry trends.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems and devise elegant, efficient solutions.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working effectively within cross‑functional teams, fostering trust and shared ownership.
  • Adaptability: Comfort navigating ambiguous requirements and rapidly evolving technology stacks.
  • Attention to Detail: Commitment to maintaining high data integrity, documentation, and operational excellence.
  • Leadership: Willingness to take ownership of critical data initiatives and mentor peers.
