[Remote] Senior Python Engineer
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Intellias is seeking a Senior Python Backend Engineer to join a team focused on building modern healthcare data solutions. The role involves backend application development using Python and FastAPI, with responsibilities including designing APIs, building distributed systems, and integrating healthcare data sources.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and FastAPI
- Build and optimize asynchronous APIs and data processing workflows
- Develop and maintain MongoDB-based persistence layers using modern ODM frameworks
- Implement secure authentication and authorization solutions using OAuth, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and JWT
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate healthcare and enterprise data sources
- Build containerized applications using Docker and support deployment workflows
- Troubleshoot and resolve application, infrastructure, and performance issues
- Develop automated testing strategies and maintain high-quality engineering standards
- Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design reviews, and best practices
- Support integration with cloud services, storage platforms, and healthcare systems
Skills
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong expertise with Python development
- Experience building APIs using FastAPI or similar modern Python frameworks
- Deep understanding of asynchronous programming concepts
- Experience working with MongoDB and document-oriented databases
- Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and JWT authentication
- Experience with Docker and containerized application development
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills
- Experience writing automated tests using pytest or similar frameworks
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with healthcare interoperability standards including FHIR R4
- Familiarity with SMART Health Cards (SHC), SMART Health Links (SHL), or healthcare data exchange solutions
- Experience working with encrypted healthcare data and secure data transmission
- Knowledge of Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI integration frameworks
- Experience integrating external platforms such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Box, SMTP services, or FHIR servers
- Familiarity with QR code and image decoding technologies
- Experience with Playwright, Cucumber, or end-to-end testing frameworks
- Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Kafka, and observability tooling
- Experience working with AWS services, including AWS Secrets Manager
- Exposure to TypeScript and React development
