[Remote] Software Engineer II, Cloud Infrastructure

As a Software Engineer II on the Cloud Infrastructure team, you will focus on the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) initiative, ensuring multi-region infrastructure resilience while collaborating with teams across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve Brex’s core cloud infrastructure, including Kubernetes (EKS), RDS/Postgres, and networking foundations
- Contribute to the multi-year BCDR initiative by implementing multi-region infrastructure readiness and automated failover capabilities
- Drive technical excellence across the stack, utilizing tools like Terraform, Docker, Flux, and Go to automate and improve infrastructure lifecycle
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to ensure seamless adoption of new infrastructure capabilities and support migrations
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and contribute to improving our incident response frameworks and system reliability
- Foster a culture of technical excellence by improving work tracking, documentation, and operational best practices
Skills
- Proven experience with cloud infrastructure foundations, specifically Kubernetes and Postgres
- Experience with incident response and maintaining highly available production systems
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services and infrastructure-at-scale
- Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate complex changes across multiple autonomous engineering teams
- Professional experience in software or systems engineering, with a focus on building scalable systems
- Experience using Terraform to manage complex, multi-account environments
- Prior experience with BCDR planning, multi-region rollouts, or disaster recovery frameworks
- Background in cloud infrastructure cost optimization or database performance tuning
- Experience with Go, as it is a core part of our tech stack
