Position Overview: Remote Alarm Monitoring & Customer Support Specialist

The Remote Alarm Monitoring & Customer Support Specialist is a pivotal front-line role within arenaflex's national monitoring operations center. In this position, you will be responsible for receiving, evaluating, and responding to alarm signals from residential homes and small business customers. You will serve as the critical first point of contact during emergencies, dispatching the appropriate authorities and communicating with designated responsible parties to ensure swift, accurate, and compassionate response.

This is a remote, work-from-home opportunity; however, candidates must reside within one hour of our Wichita, Kansas contact center at 800 East Waterman, Wichita, KS 67202. This geographic requirement is necessary to support specific state security licensing obligations and ensure our ability to comply with regional regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities: A Day in the Life

As an Alarm Monitoring team member at arenaflex, no two shifts are exactly the same. Your day will be dynamic, fast-paced, and deeply meaningful. Below is a detailed overview of the core responsibilities you can expect to perform:

  • Alarm Signal Response and Verification: Receive and handle incoming alarm signals with the highest level of attention and urgency. Place outgoing calls to verify alarm activity, confirm whether the signal is genuine or false, and gather the information necessary to determine the appropriate response.
  • Emergency Dispatch Coordination: Dispatch the proper authorities — including police, fire, medical, or specialized response teams — based on the nature of the alarm signal and the established departmental protocols. Your quick, accurate decision-making can directly impact the safety of customers in crisis.
  • Customer and Responsible Party Notification: Notify the appropriate responsible parties, including homeowners, business owners, family members, and authorized contacts, regarding alarm activity and dispatched responses. Communication must be clear, calm, and reassuring, even in high-pressure situations.
  • Detailed Documentation: Maintain meticulous attention to detail while documenting every step of alarm handling procedures within the company’s alarm screen systems. Accurate records are essential for legal compliance, operational review, and continuous improvement of our services.
  • Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures: Complete all alarm processing activities in strict accordance with departmental procedures, regulatory standards, and licensing requirements. Consistency and compliance are non-negotiable in this role.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide customers with alarm reset instructions and basic troubleshooting guidance during both outbound alarm calls and inbound alarm call-backs. Your ability to walk customers through simple technical steps helps restore their security systems quickly and reduces unnecessary dispatches.
  • Inbound Customer Inquiries: Receive inbound calls related to alarm call-back inquiries, providing professional, courteous, and informative support to customers seeking updates or assistance regarding alarm activity.
  • Continuous Learning and Skill Development: Stay current on updated procedures, system enhancements, and new product offerings to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Customer Service Experience: A minimum of six (6) months of customer service experience is required, preferably in a contact center, call center, or high-volume customer interaction environment.
  • Technical Aptitude: Demonstrated ability to navigate multiple software systems simultaneously, troubleshoot basic technical issues, and learn new technologies quickly.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to assess situations rapidly and determine the best course of action.
  • Multi-Tasking Ability: Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks, manage competing demands, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Multi-State Licensing Eligibility: Ability to obtain and maintain security licensing across multiple states as required by the role.
