Remote Commercial Real Estate Development Manager

Our client, a distinguished leader in the commercial real estate sector, is actively seeking a talented and results-oriented Remote Commercial Real Estate Development Manager . This position is designed for a seasoned professional who can manage the entire lifecycle of development projects from inception to completion, entirely from a remote work setup. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in site selection, entitlements, design, construction management, and project financing, demonstrating a proactive and independent work ethic. This role is a fully remote, remote-first opportunity, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within the US while supporting projects nationwide, with a key focus on markets including but not limited to Columbus, Ohio .
Key Responsibilities
Source and evaluate potential sites for commercial real estate development projects. Manage the entitlement and permitting process with local government agencies. Oversee architectural and engineering design processes, ensuring projects meet strategic objectives and building codes. Direct and manage third-party general contractors throughout the construction phase, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Develop and manage project budgets, financial proformas, and funding requests. Coordinate with legal, finance, and leasing teams to facilitate project closings and lease-up strategies. Conduct thorough due diligence on potential acquisitions and development opportunities. Mitigate project risks through proactive planning and problem-solving. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including brokers, lenders, government officials, and community leaders, remotely. Prepare detailed project reports and presentations for senior management.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Real Estate, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in commercial real estate development, with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects. Demonstrated experience in site acquisition, entitlements, design, and construction oversight. Strong understanding of real estate finance, development economics, and capital markets. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote setting. Proficiency in project management software and standard office suites. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, adapted for a remote work environment. Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate strong initiative. Experience with various commercial property types (e.g., office, retail, industrial, mixed-use). Must be legally authorized to work in the US and comfortable operating in a fully remote capacity.
