Position Overview
We are seeking a meticulous Data Entry Technician who thrives on working with geographic information system (GIS) platforms and large‑scale environmental databases. In this role, you will be the backbone of a national effort to maintain and enhance the Abandoned Mines and Site Cleanup… Module (AMSCM) database, ensuring that thousands of site and feature records are accurate, up‑to‑date, and ready for analysis by stakeholders.
This position is currently in the proposal stage; the offer will be contingent upon contract award. All viable candidates will undergo a thorough screening process.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Kick‑Off Coordination
- Participate in the initial kick‑off meeting organized by arenaflex to introduce key personnel, clarify project objectives, and align expectations.
- Collaborate with the Task Manager and subject‑matter experts to establish data entry protocols, timelines, and quality benchmarks.
- Facilitate clear communication channels for remote or in‑person sessions, ensuring all team members are equipped with the necessary resources.
2. Environmental Data Management
- Work directly with the Task Manager to input, update, delete, and review AMSCM data for approximately 41,000 sites and 70,000 features.
- Translate both digital and paper‑based field files into structured database entries, maintaining fidelity to original source material.
- Perform rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) checks on all entered data, identifying and correcting inconsistencies, duplicates, or missing attributes.
- Document data‑quality issues and propose enhancements to improve overall database reliability.
- Generate digital map products using AMSCM‑derived data, supporting visualization needs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with data‑sharing initiatives, ensuring that information is formatted correctly for downstream applications and complies with arenaflex data‑governance policies.
- Coordinate large‑scale verification tasks:
- Re‑evaluate and update roughly 50,000 features nationwide.
- Validate approximately 130,000 feature records for accuracy.
- Confirm the integrity of about 60,000 site records.
3. Progress Reporting & Communication
- Provide concise weekly teleconference updates to the Task Manager and the Contracting Officer’s Representative, highlighting accomplishments, upcoming work, and any emerging issues.
- Prepare detailed monthly written progress reports that capture schedule adherence, budget status, and corrective actions taken.
- Document deviations from the planned scope, schedule, or budget, and recommend mitigation strategies to keep the project on track.
4. Final Deliverables & Documentation
- Compose an annual letter report for arenaflex that fully describes project outcomes, challenges encountered, and lessons learned.
- Develop draft and final versions of the report in both hard‑copy and electronic formats, incorporating feedback from arenaflex reviewers.
- Submit a comment‑response matrix, when required, to ensure all stakeholder concerns are addressed before final acceptance.
5. Travel & Field Support (Occasional)
- Travel up to six times per year, typically for five working days or less, to arenaflex offices located in Colorado or other continental U.S. sites.
- Provide on‑site assistance during data‑validation workshops, stakeholder meetings, or field verification activities as needed.
