[Remote] Founding CTO / Technical Cofounder — PatentWorth.ai
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. PatentVC is looking for a Founding CTO / Technical Cofounder for their AI patent valuation platform, PatentWorth.ai. The role involves designing and developing the core valuation algorithm and owning the technical architecture as the company transitions from a consulting phase to a full-time CTO position after funding is secured.
Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop PatentWorth's core valuation algorithm — the model that scores the value of a patent, a disclosure, and a portfolio
- Build the engine behind the three decisions the product runs on: ranking disclosures for filing, scoring the portfolio for renewal, and producing CFO-ready valuations that prove ROI
- Decide how the valuation model is built, trained, and fine-tuned — blending income, market, and cost approaches, calibrated on real patent transactions, with confidence intervals on every estimate
- Own the technical architecture as lead developer through the early product
- Provide technical input for investor and customer pitches
Skills
- Recent PhD in computer science, with a concentration or substantial research in AI / machine learning
- AI-first builder. You can design algorithms, not just call APIs
- Deep patent understanding. You know what a claim is, how prosecution history matters, why maintenance fees and family structure affect value, and how citations behave
- A genuine interest in finance and asset valuation
- Founder wiring. You want to build a company, own the technical roadmap, and grow into the CTO seat
- Registered U.S. patent agent (passed the USPTO registration exam)
- Hands-on with modern ML tooling: training, fine-tuning, retrieval, evaluation
- Product instinct — you can ship, not just research
