Senior Ecommerce Experience Designer Department: Creative/Design Employment Type: Freelance Location: South Africa Compensation: R450.00 - R500.00 / hour Description Pimento doesn't do generic digital work. The role is hands-on, high-ownership and sits right atthe intersection of ecommerce, UX, conversion optimisation and digital design. The Role What you’ll own: Ecommerce Page Design Create ecommerce concepts and designs for homepages, product detail pages (PDPs), collection pages, navigation systems, cart experiences, checkout experiences, and promotional landing pages Figma Design & Production Create page concepts in Figma Build reusable design systems and components Create conversion-focused layouts Produce client-ready deliverables Iterate designs based on feedback Ecommerce Asset Creation Create supporting assets such as product listing images, comparison tables, trust-building sections, feature highlights, benefits-focused visual content, and mobile-first ecommerce experiences Strategic Design Contribution Understand the commercial objectives behind client projects Apply ecommerce and conversion best practices to design work Contribute ideas and recommendations during project execution Identify opportunities to improve customer experience and conversion Challenge assumptions constructively when appropriate Help evolve concepts beyond the initial brief where beneficial Design Collaboration Work closely with Peter on active client projects Translate strategy into practical design outputs Review competitor examples and inspiration Support rapid delivery across multiple client accounts The Person Who we’re looking for: Essential Strong Figma skills 3+ years experience in ecommerce, UX or digital design Experience designing ecommerce websites and user journeys Strong understanding of layout, hierarchy and visual communication Ability to independently create polished design concepts Understanding of ecommerce conversion principles Strong attention to detail Ability to take feedback and iterate quickly Strongly Preferred Shopify experience Ecommerce agency experience, and DTC environments CRO agency experience Experience creating PDPs and ecommerce landing pages Understanding of customer psychology and buying behaviour
