Senior Quality Assurance Engineer – Virtual Testing & Simulation at arenaflex

Build the Future of Fulfillment Innovation with arenaflex

Are you passionate about pushing the boundaries of what is possible in robotics, automation, and sustainable packaging? Do you thrive in fast-paced, iterative environments where cutting-edge technology meets real-world challenges at an unprecedented scale? If you are looking for an opportunity to drive measurable impact, partner with world-class engineering teams, and help shape the next generation of fulfillment solutions, then arenaflex wants to hear from you.

arenaflex is reimagining the future of logistics and fulfillment through bold innovation in mechatronics, sustainable packaging, and intelligent automation. Our Mechatronics & Sustainable Packaging (MSP) team is at the forefront of designing and delivering industrial hardware, control systems, robotic cells, autonomous vehicles, sortation platforms, and advanced packaging materials that power modern fulfillment networks around the globe.

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer – Virtual Testing & Simulation to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will architect and execute virtual test platforms that validate complex, full-scale automation solutions using high-fidelity simulation, emulation, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments. Your work will ensure that the systems arenaflex delivers perform flawlessly in the real world, long before they ever reach a production floor.

About the Role

As a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer on the MSP Virtual Testing & Simulation team, you will be the bridge between innovative product design and reliable, customer-ready deployment. You will partner closely with Product Teams to drive high-quality delivery, collaborate with the QA Manual Testing and Requirements Team to align virtual and physical validation, and engage directly with internal customers including Operations, Maintenance, Process Engineering, and Operations Engineering to ensure every solution meets their evolving requirements.

The MSP team’s mission is to drive future innovation across every dimension of mechatronics and packaging. From industrial hardware and control machines to robotic cells, autonomous vehicles, sortation systems, and packaging materials, we deliver strategic value by partnering with key stakeholders such as Operations, RME, ACES, Supply Chain, Transportation, and WW Design. Our goal is to deliver robust, scalable products that integrate seamlessly into the global arenaflex fulfillment network.

The Virtual Testing team develops and executes comprehensive system-level test plans through simulation to validate requirements, meet customer deliverables, and ensure integrated performance across hardware, automation, controls, software, and materials. By creating stress-test environments, we identify risks early, accelerate time-to-market, and set new standards for quality across the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement advanced simulation frameworks and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments to validate end-to-end mechatronics and packaging solutions using real production-grade software.
  • Ensure that all products meet stringent specifications for quality, functionality, operational reliability, maintainability, training, deployment, and integration with Material Handling Equipment (MHE) before they are released.
  • Define and establish appropriate quality standards and acceptance parameters, and communicate these clearly across product, hardware, software, controls, and materials development teams.
  • Lead and coordinate complex simulation and testing efforts, prioritizing initiatives that maximize risk reduction and accelerate product readiness.
  • Identify, analyze, and triage issues, defects, and recurring problems across multiple product lines; recommend and drive resolution through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Build strong relationships with internal customers, including Operations, RME, ACES, Process Engineering, and WW Design, gathering and incorporating feedback into iterative test cycles.
  • Perform Design-of-Experiments to efficiently test multiple variables and uncover system sensitivities that would be impossible to detect through traditional testing alone.
  • Develop and maintain test automation within HIL environments, leveraging test executors and automation engines that run on real automation software.
  • Maintain full compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, and policies throughout all quality activities.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring junior engineers and raising the bar for engineering excellence across the organization.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of proven experience working with large, cross-functional engineering teams in modeling, simulation, testing, integration, or quality assurance.
  • Deep experience with fulfillment systems, including storage equipment, material handling systems, automated sortation systems, and related automation equipment.
  • Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to meet critical deadlines in dynamic environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex systems containing significant ambiguity.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 70% to business locations, project sites, and customer facilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies, robotic systems, and high-speed manufacturing environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across technical teams, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with a track record of initiating, driving, and successfully delivering complex engineering initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, FlexSim, Arena, or equivalent platforms.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming, robotics frameworks, and industrial automation protocols.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks, continuous integration, and DevOps practices applied to hardware-software systems.
  • Master’s degree or advanced certifications in a relevant engineering or quality discipline.

Skills and Competencies for Success

Success in this role requires more than technical expertise. You will need exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries. You must be comfortable working through ambiguity, balancing multiple high-priority initiatives, and translating complex technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse audiences. A mindset of curiosity, a passion for systems-level thinking, and the ability to influence without direct authority will be critical to your impact at arenaflex.
