Key Responsibilities

Datacenter Operations

  • Complete assigned service tickets efficiently while adhering to established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for each task category, working under the guidance of experienced technicians
  • Seek mentorship and consultation from senior professionals when handling testing procedures or complex technical issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed, including time spent, parts used, and resolution details
  • Monitor and report on operational metrics that reflect team and facility performance

Service Delivery and Hardware Management

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of effective work order execution procedures with support from experienced colleagues and direct management
  • Plan, stage, set up, and perform basic new equipment installations and decommissions for hardware including server racks, hard drives, switches, and related components
  • Follow detailed written instructions provided through checklists, runbooks, standard operating procedures, emails, and direct guidance from senior technicians
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians to ensure compliance with established procedures and safety requirements
  • Perform basic diagnostics and troubleshooting using standard procedures to identify root causes of technical issues
  • Replace defective components in networking, storage, or server equipment with minimal disruption to customers and business operations
  • Develop awareness of conditions and scenarios that may significantly impact customers or business operations within the data center environment

Equipment Decommissioning and Modification

  • Execute decommissions, critical modifications including memory upgrades and operating system changes, and refreshes of system cabling, network infrastructure, storage systems, and server equipment
  • Adhere to established procedures while seeking clarification and guidance from experienced technicians as needed
  • Process data-bearing devices (DBDs) for destruction or verify that all such devices (including hard drives, solid-state drives, and flash cards) have been properly identified for destruction or secure disposal
  • Maintain chain-of-custody documentation for all hardware components throughout their lifecycle

Operational Excellence and Reporting

  • Maintain awareness of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through reporting dashboards and systems
  • Prepare for and participate in individual monthly performance discussions with management
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and service quality

Data Center Workplace Environment

  • Complete all required security and data management training while adhering to security policies and procedures
  • Accompany third-party vendors or IT support personnel on-premises at data centers and network sites as needed
  • Take appropriate action and report physical security access concerns and incidents to management or through established reporting channels
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment by sharing information across shifts and professional teams
  • Participate in regular team meetings, ask questions, and partner with other shift teams to ensure smooth transitions and effective handover of in-progress work
  • Encourage and respond constructively to feedback on improving work processes and operational effectiveness
  • Embrace best practices shared within and across shifts and professional teams

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Education and Knowledge

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

Availability and Scheduling

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including non-standard business hours that may include nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Flexibility to support a 24/7 operational environment
  • Willingness to participate in shift rotations as required by business needs

Security and Citizenship Requirements

Successful candidates must meet arenaflex, customer, and government security screening requirements. These requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Cloud Background Investigation: This position requires passing the arenaflex Cloud personal verification upon hire or transfer, with subsequent renewals every two years
  • Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this role supports government agency clients and is subject to specific citizenship-based limitations as required by applicable law. To meet this requirement and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate's citizenship will be verified through valid passport documentation
  • Law Enforcement Data Services: This position may require passing a background check conducted through criminal justice information systems by authorized local, state, and federal agencies across multiple jurisdictions. Candidates must maintain eligibility throughout their employment

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification plus fundamental knowledge of computer hardware and components
  • One or more years of experience supporting IT equipment or related technology
  • Previous experience in data center environments, IT support, or technical operations
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, server hardware, and storage systems
  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent industry certification

Physical Requirements

This position involves physical demands typical of data center operations environments:

  • Occasional movement and positioning of ladders
  • Frequent climbing of stairs and ramps
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds (22.5 kg)
  • Occasional pushing or pulling of 50-75 pounds (22.5-34 kg) with assistive devices
  • Typical visual acuity for close, far, and peripheral vision (correctable)
  • Normal color vision for electrical work identification
