Senior Underwriter, Recreational Marine
Were seeking a motivated Senior Underwriter with experience underwriting recreational facilities (marine or powersports), commercial marine facilities, hull/protection and indemnity, cargo, and other wet marine lines of business. Your Impact: Undertake projects, whether assigned independently or by Department Manager, focused on business product development or strategic underwriting initiatives. This includes form rewrites, creating best practices, or building out underwriting guidelines for specific businesses. Act as product (line of business) and business (class of business) level experts for team and assist with the training and education of team through regular presentations, papers, articles, or providing updates on the general appetite/industry development. Monitor new business results, hit ratio, lost business, and profitability versus goals defined by Department Manager. Select and underwrite commercial middle market business with focus on boat dealer, boat manufacturer, marina, and commercial shipyard risks. Provide direction to teammates (may include any of the following: Analysts, Raters, Associate Underwriters or Technicians - delegate tasks as needed). Manage assigned agency relationships and make agency visitations as needed. Coordinate loss control and claims services as needed. Negotiate facultative reinsurance on accounts where needed. Train or assist in training of others as necessary. Help co-workers improve their skills by sharing your knowledge. Successful Candidates Will Have: 5+ years of related marine underwriting experience Knowledge of ISO rating plans, forms, and compliance Ability to travel approximately 20% of time for visits to agents and industry events Ability and desire to continue professional development through industry and/or outside courses to obtain a professional designation One80 Marine is a specialty insurance program company, with 30+ years of in-house underwriting experience.
