The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional with a strong foundation in journalism ethics and a deep understanding of the South Korean market. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to cover scoops and identify key industry trends. This role also involves collaborating with journalists to produce data-driven stories that resonate with a professional financial audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Break news on M&A transactions, corporate bolt-ons and divestitures, IPOs, and private equity deals.
  • Interview South Korean public and private companies, and unicorns regarding M&A strategies and market trends.
  • Provide in-depth analysis of major trends, sectors, and key players in the M&A space, including investment banks, private equity firms, hedge funds, and corporate dealmakers.
  • Develop and maintain a robust network of trusted sources among investment bankers, corporate executives, private equity professionals, and legal advisors.
  • Attend industry conferences, investor calls, and dealmaking events to stay ahead of market trends and report on emerging developments.
  • Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in business or financial reporting.
  • Proven track record of delivering exclusive scoops and breaking market-moving news.
  • Strong ability to analyze complex financial and M&A topics and communicate them in an engaging, accessible manner.
  • Established network of industry sources and a demonstrated ability to generate original story ideas.
  • Excellent English writing skills with a professional tone and attention to detail.
  • Experience writing for a professional financial audience (e.g., investors, analysts, industry professionals) is a plus.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain high-level relationships within financial institutions, advisory firms, law firms, and corporate boardrooms.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
