Entry Level Field Engineer (REMOTE)

KCI is currently seeking a Junior Level Engineer to join their team in Florida. These individual will support power distribution infrastructure upgrades and storm hardening projects across Florida. The primary responsibility of this position is field assessments. This person will be assigned projects that need field assessments, and they will perform site visits, visual inspections, measurements, photographs, and write field reports. When they are not performing fielding work, they will support design work. This work consists of the engineering calculations and design for replacing deteriorated cable, moving overhead lines to underground, reconductoring of existing distribution lines, and replacing aging equipment. The engineering calculations associated with these projects include structural analysis, guying, cable pulling, electric demand, fault currents, and coordination of protective devices. • This position would be fully remote and in the field. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Graduation from a four-year ABET accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering • Must be willing to work outside in the Florida elements as their primary responsibilities. • Must be willing to drive to projects sites, in the geographic area between Spring Hill and Tallahassee. • Prefer experience or basic knowledge of concepts in the electric utility industry, including primary and secondary distribution systems, utility standards, ability to use design software packages, and general construction knowledge and aptitude. Will consider engineering experience outside of the electric utility industry. • Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles • Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing/presenting recommendations • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds • Good written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate frequently with customers • MUST have strong interpersonal skills, self-motivation/initiative, and the desire to learn. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
