About the position The Transportation Security Officer (TSO) position at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is responsible for ensuring the security and protection of travelers across various transportation sectors. TSOs operate screening equipment, perform searches, and interact with the public to maintain safety in airports. This role requires a high level of professionalism and the ability to work in a stressful environment while adhering to strict security protocols. Responsibilities • Operate screening equipment to identify dangerous objects in baggage and on passengers. , • Perform physical searches and screening, including pat-downs and bag searches. , • Control terminal entry and exit points to ensure security. , • Interact with the public, providing directions and responding to inquiries. , • Maintain focus in a noisy and stressful environment to identify potential threats. , • Engage in continuous development of critical thinking skills to mitigate security threats. , • Implement knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures and adapt to new information. Requirements • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National. , • Minimum age of 18 at the time of application. , • Must pass a structured interview, drug screening, medical evaluation, and background investigation. , • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehending). , • Must be available to work various shifts and overtime as needed.
