Security Guard

Core Responsibilities • Supports division and site safety, quality, productivity, environmental and cost reduction goals. • Patrols premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensures security of doors, windows, and gates. • Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises. Enforces identification badge procedures. • Conducts incident investigations. Investigates alarms or disturbances and writes reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other security related situations. • Monitors vehicle traffic. • Protects property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, fire and accidents. • Answers telephone calls to take messages, answer questions and provides information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed. • Provides any needed assistance to customers, employees and visitors with the department's procedures.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions . • Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or related field of study and 2+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education or experience. • Military or law enforcement background, preferred. • Knowledge of security operations, safety practices in a business environment and enforcement procedures. • Ability to understand and follow standard operating procedures. • Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedures. • Incident investigation and documentation skills. • Ability to multi-task, prioritize daily work assignments, meet deadlines and manage time wisely with minimal supervision. • Strong mathematical, organizational skills and attention to detail. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • May be required to work long hours and weekends. • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment. • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
