About the position The College and Career Readiness Student Advisor plays a vital role in guiding high school students through their post-secondary planning, focusing on college access and career development. This part-time, temporary position involves working closely with students and their families to navigate college admissions, financial aid processes, and career exploration initiatives, ultimately empowering students to achieve their educational and career goals. Responsibilities ? Develop meaningful relationships with students and provide moral support. , ? Uphold a professional attitude and appearance. , ? Meet one-on-one with high school students to assist with the college application process. , ? Assist students and parents with the financial aid/FAFSA process. , ? Maintain an updated Excel sheet with future appointments and meeting outcomes. , ? Serve as a chaperone for college tours. , ? Connect participants with resources for post-secondary success, such as SAT courses and tutoring. , ? Collaborate with students' guidance counselors or school staff. , ? Outreach to participants and their families regarding post-secondary preparedness. , ? Assist with SYEP and WLG through workshops, instruction, recruitment, and enrollment. , ? Develop and facilitate workshops and activities for college and career exploration. , ? Attend meetings, trainings, workshops, and outside events. , ? Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Requirements ? Bilingual (Spanish). , ? Excellent interpersonal skills. , ? Bachelor's degree in a related field or some college with at least two years of relevant work experience. , ? Experience working with high school students or academic programs. , ? Experience in college readiness programming preferred. , ? Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. , ? High motivation and willingness to work as part of a team. , ? Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills. , ? Excellent punctuality, attendance, and reliability. , ? Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and online platforms. Nice-to-haves ? Experience in college readiness programming preferred. Benefits ? Compensation of $20.00 - $22.00/hour. , ? Potential for contract renewal after one year. Apply Job!
