About the position The Sales Manager for Export Coal at CSX Transportation, Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the sales and marketing efforts of the company's Export Coal portfolio, which generates annual revenues exceeding $1 billion. This position requires a strategic mindset and the ability to manage complex commercial proposals while collaborating with various internal teams such as Marketing, Service Design, Operations, and Customer Service. The Sales Manager will be tasked with selling and managing CSX Transportation services to coal producers and commodity traders on a global scale, ensuring that the company's offerings meet the needs of its diverse clientele. In this role, the Sales Manager will develop, negotiate, and close large-scale commercial proposals, which necessitates a deep understanding of the transportation and logistics sectors. The successful candidate will create and execute strategic account plans tailored to individual customers, aiming to strengthen business relationships and enhance performance metrics. This includes leading initiatives to improve service plans in collaboration with relevant CSX groups, thereby driving increased business levels and customer satisfaction. The position also involves miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by the manager, which may vary based on the evolving needs of the business. The Sales Manager will play a crucial role in representing CSX in the marketplace, requiring a blend of analytical, financial, and negotiation skills to navigate the complexities of the industry effectively. Responsibilities ? Sell and manage CSX Transportation (CSXT) services to coal producers and commodity traders globally. , ? Develop, negotiate and close large, complex commercial proposals in conjunction with all relevant CSX groups including Marketing, Service Design, Operations, Customer Service, Industrial Development, etc. , ? Create and execute strategic account plans for customers. , ? Lead and strengthen business relationships within CSXT and customer organizations while striving for improved performance or increased business levels. , ? Lead and develop improved service plans with customer and appropriate CSX groups, including Service Design, Transportation, and Bulk Operations. , ? Perform miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager. Requirements ? Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree , ? 3 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Business/Strategic Management, Sales, Account Management, Marketing, or Finance. Nice-to-haves ? Graduate Degree , ? 5 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Business/Strategic Management, Sales, Account Management, Marketing, or Finance.
