College/University Tutor for Elementary Students

Hazelwood School District - JOB DESCRIPTION Student Tutor Student tutors will provide virtual academic tutoring services in Math and English Language Arts for elementary school students across the Hazelwood School District. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: • Facilitate student achievement: • Provides supplemental virtual tutoring services to students who require additional support in alignment with the building principal’s guidance. • Virtually meets and instructs assigned students upon request. • Creates a virtual environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. • Monitors student achievement: • Assesses the success of students after help has been provided and shares information with elementary school staff. • Perform other duties as assigned or required: • Attends required orientation and professional development sessions. • Maintains student attendance records. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Enrolled as a current college or university student. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of English Language Arts and Math standards. PREFERRED REQUIRED: Past tutoring experience is preferred, but not required. SKILLS/ABILITIES: • Superior interpersonal skills. • Accurate and attentive to detail. • Outstanding organizational skills. • Dependable and self-motivated. • Positive, effective people skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to read, write, and speak at high levels. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust and focus, and depth perception. Specific hearing abilities required include normal conversation and isolating voices in multiple conversations. WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS: Works virtually; must have strong internet access. EQUIPMENT / TOOLS/ MATERIALS USED: Computer, telephone, calculator. REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: None.
