Job Description

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up the examination and treatment areas in compliance with clinic standards.
  • Conducts patient rooming processes that cover vital sign measurements, data collection, and other designated elements unique to the clinic setting and within established Scope of Responsibilities.
  • Correctly dispenses and records unit-based drugs/vaccines according to clinic guidelines following appropriate training and proving competency.
  • Undertakes the task of conducting EKGs and executing laboratory assessments under the clinic's CLIA license after undergoing successful training and demonstrating competency.
  • Verifies the accuracy, clarity, and conciseness of documentation in the patient record as specified within the Scope of Responsibilities. May undertake the role of a provider scribe after receiving appropriate training.
  • Carries out all required clerical responsibilities and oversees the management of supplies through ordering and upkeep directives.
  • Facilitates the booking of follow-up care and appointments as directed.
  • Dispenses pre-printed patient education materials approved in advance. Redirects patient inquiries to the provider or registered nurse.
  • Duties defined within the documented scope of responsibilities at Monument Health.
  • Tasks outside the normal scope of work may be assigned.

Additional Requirements Required: Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing Certification - Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing Preferred: Experience - 1+ years of Healthcare Experience Physical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
