As part of the Battery Engineering group, this role involves development and qualification of automated assembly and fabrication processes, machinery and tooling from lab scale to mass production. The ideal candidate shows initiative and can drive projects independently with inputs and guidance from multiple collaborators. A successful engineer needs to be comfortable with continually evolving priorities and is a thoughtful, nimble, and action oriented problem solver. Experience specifying and or developing custom automated equipment from design to sustained production use is necessary. Description In this role you will:

  • Specify the requirements for, and manage the development of automated and semi-automated assembly and processing equipment, tooling and processes in cooperation with external vendors and partners.
  • Develop, evaluate, and improve unit processes and manufacturing methods to enable battery cell designs to meet system design targets.
  • Plan, execute and analyze tests and experiments to evaluate processes and quantify properties and design parameters.
  • Evaluate and improve designs and processes using quality tools, design of experiments and statistical data analysis tools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree.
  • Experience in the design and development of automated manufacturing equipment or mechanical components.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in technology development with a demonstrated record of innovation.
  • Experience in working with external vendors and contractors to develop and qualify designs
  • Working knowledge of robotics, control systems, vision systems and PLCs. Proven ability to integrate electronic sensors, motors, and motion control components.
  • Experienced in applying statistical analysis and formal problem solving tools (SPC, GR&R, DOE, Fishbones, FMEA, RCA, FTA, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with the ability to clearly and accurately explain technical issues
  • Experienced in battery, IC or consumer electronics product assembly and packaging development.

Pay & Benefits At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $136,300 and $248,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
